About Melissa

Melissa Davis is a wife, mother, former educator, and proud military brat. She graduated from Fayetteville State University with a Master's Degree in School Administration, and also has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Troy State University. She uses her experiences from teaching military students for over 20 years to create books that are both exciting and educational.

About Home Is Where Books

These books are powerful literary tools that say, “You are special to me!” to the children of military families.  The books contain information specially intended for children about the places to see and things to do in and around their new bases.

My Writing Roots

My personal experiences as a military child are what inspired me to write this book.  When my father was in the military, he would receive his orders to a new post every 3 or 4 years, and the Army would send our family a relocation packet.  The packet would contain a wealth of information for my parents, but nothing specifically for my brother and me.  I loved reading and looking at books as a child, and I can remember wishing that there was a book in those relocation packets for me.
